So, Jay wants to buy a steering wheel for $550 and a rear bumper for $250. That's $800 right there that *should* be going to me. This doesn't account for the money he intends on spending on stereo equipment.

That may be true...but BSerious has nothing to worry about. I am not mad at him..simply disappointed that he didn't do the *right* thing.

yeah but...

Receiving stolen goods is generally buying or acquiring the possession of property knowing that it had been obtained through theft, embezzlement, larceny, or extortion by someone else.
None of these apply... This was a purchase when the purchaser knew that the
seller still owed someone money. I don't think anyone would consider the item
stolen just yet...

Certainly it's kinda gray... If it were me, I wouldn't buy it... And if I did I would certainly
NOT give the money to the old owner; the seller would not be obliged to give me the
item in that case (his personal debt not-withstanding).

Hopefully Jay will show up and resolve everything. In the meantime, I don't think
pushing him into a corner is going to help things...

And keeping the status of the sale on the hush is not going to help things either. The purpose of this thread is to call Jay out and get him to man-up to his responsibility. This thread serves to put him on public notice that he has a debt he needs to resolve. Show the community that he may not be the type of guy you all deem him to be. If I had a friend that did something like this, that person could consider himself/herself at risk of losing my friendship.

Again, look at what Jay is doing--instead of repaying his debt to me he is out trying to buy new items.

I'm just saying, ok, the thread is here. Let's wait and see.

I, for one, am optimistic.
