cali job market and employment opportunities

It's definitely working guys, i just want to give hope to others out there. I'm not living like a hermit by any means. I have DirecTV, Iphone w/ data plan, i actually use my AC when it's hot and i live in Aliso Viejo, which i don't think is a shabby area.
I split all joint costs 50% such as food, bills, mortgage payments. I still pay for everything that is not joint, such as fuel, car parts, phone bill, car insurance. And i am not relying on any secret money coming in, like from parents or whatnot--i am 26 and fully independent.
I didn't know you guys would look so in-depth into this. But i should point out that our mortgage of ~$2400 includes taxes and insurance. And my CC bill estimate, includes gas costs since i only purchase gas on my CC.
So yeah, going back to the original idea, i do think 40K is doable to be comfortable. My idea of comfortable is NOT struggling to make any payments while still being able to enjoy going out at times (movies, dinner, etc.) Sure i can't go out to $60 sushi dinners twice a week like i used to, but i don't need that either.

Keyword is HALF.
Hate to say it, but the more you make, the MORE you spend. And some people wonder why those pro athletes always go broke. Saving consist lot of self-control, and it can be so hard for me sometimes.

now that i have mortgage, i dont understand how i didnt save more money when i was living at home while making a similar salary.
in all honestly tho, i think even if you were on your own you'd find a way. its human nature.
but yea, HALF is a big deal. i believe that is keeper. lol.

I moved out when I was making about 65k, I found myself living paycheck to paycheck... so I moved back home when my lease ended and life is good again . I think I'll try and move out again when I make 80k (hopefully soon). I also used to live off 500 a month in SB back in college so I know how to be cheap too. You can live in SoCal with a low salary but is it really worth it?

Nursing is a lot of hard, unappreciated work. Doctors typically disrespect you as well as the patients.
I know A LOT of nurses.
Yes, it pays well but way too much BS for me to put up with personally. Scheduling can be a PITA as well.
