Buying a used S2000 - Maintenance?
Hi all, I am buying a used 2003 S2000 with 18,000 miles. The owner said the only maintenance he's done on the car is oil change every 3,000 miles:

I think I want to have the following done, since it's a low-mileage 5-year old car. What do you think?
Oil change
Replace battery
Valve adjustment
Transmission service
Rear differential service
Brake fluid change
Radiator fluid change
Now, I was just going to go to a Honda dealer to get all this done, but it's going to cost over $500, and people are saying that the service has really gone downhill. Can any of you recommend a reputable place to service my car? It can be a Honda dealer or non-Honda, as long as they do a good honest job, I'm willing to pay for it.
Thanks!
Oh, and I'm in the Los Angeles area now.

Haha, I think I would feel comfortable changing the battery and the oil myself, but that's about it. Wouldn't even know where to begin with the other stuff... If someone wants to show me how, then I will repay you in food and beer =] Otherwise, it'll have to be at a shop...

I am sure once you are a memeber in this site, fellow s2ker will hook you up!!
What does membership have to do with it?
Well, Shane is far from LA, but he gets rave reviews here in the OC.
(Aliso Viejo Auto). That's where I go... Couldn't tell ya for LA.

depending on where in the LA area you are, Mid Valley Automotive (Tony Fuch's) on Winnetka in the San Fernando Valley is amazing with S2000's. I've been using him for all work on my "S" and have had all the work you described done by him with incredible results.
He is also highly recommended by many members on this site.
btw: Congrats on the purchase
You don't need to be a member for us to help you out, however, the membership is worth every penny since you will be addicted to this site like most of us are. Oh, by the way, you get the hotties section as well as the So.Cal Swap meet privelages as a member.

You can do that all yourself for about half that.
Just wondering because I can't do maintenance where I live, but if there's a DIY place, that'd be pretty good to know.

why the hell would you change the battery?
The only things i would bother with are the engine oil, trans and diff change.. since they are actual LUBRICANTS.
2 things to add are the intake filter and the cabin filter.
All others really dont need to be changed unless you FEEL something is wrong with them, or its if you're coming close to the honda recommended service interval.
