Hello,
I have a '93 toyota pick-up that I use was using as a daily / hauling vehicle. I recently blew the head gasket on it due to a cracked radiator hose. Because of my odometer problems, I was not able to catch the overheat in time. (thermostat slow, speedo doesn't work, fuel gauge works). I do not know how extensive the damages are - not sure if it will need a new head, re-machining, etc.
At this point, I'm not sure if it would be best to repair, replace, or just straight up sell. Because I did not pay much for the truck (~$1,500), there isn't a whole lot at risk here.
Any suggestions? I already called one spot in Santa Ana and they wanted $1,100 to replace, however I'm not sure how much I can trust these types of places.

22re's are very easy to fix if you dont want to fix Ill buy as is for reasonable price. All you need is radiator, new hoses, thermostat, head gasket, a resurface on the head, and timing chain kit. If your willing to part with it let me know the info on the truck I might be interested.

beofre you go that route you can buy a complete motor rebuilt for $1300 so $1100 seems like alot.
head gasket set 120
resurface head 200 maybe?
timing chain kit there are 2 types
plastic guides 100
metal guides 150
radiatior 120
hoses 40
coolant 20
thermostat 20 depends on what you get could be cheaper
parts alone $500-$700 depending on what you want.
most of the prices are off of autozone except for the timing chain kits i got that from LCE performance I bought the metal guides for my 94 22re and dont have to worry about them ever falling apaprt.
I dont know what the labor book says for hours but they arent that hard to do.
