A bit of better news when it comes to gas prices.
I just thought I would post a link to the type of story folks rarely post a link to: one in which prices are reported as going down! Yay!
Usually it's a link to prices going up. But not today. Admittedly it's not quite as low as this same time last year, but at least it isn't as bad as it was in September.

I've been noticing the prices drop alot here near the IE, but gas could be as far high as 8$ per gallon,I'm one the those people that has no choice and will have to pay it with out second guessing.

It's still too damn expensive. Just because of a super high increase and then a big drop, it's still slightly more expensive. Do that 10 times and people still think they are getting a good deal when it's $5 bucks a gallon.

It is helpful to try to keep things in perspective. Making statements like "it's too damn expensive" with no point of comparison is perhaps a bit myopic, and with no justification for the statement it is difficult to be taken seriously. Prices here are relatively low compared to the rest of the world. We don't have much room to complain when you look at prices in Canada, the UK, etc.
If you take into account inflation, there have been times in the history of the US during which the cost of gas has been as high as or higher than it is now.

so youre saying... adjusted for inflation, gas prices are more expensive than even during the greatest energy crisis in recent US history!
great... thanks. i think saying "gas is expensive" is fairly justified now then.

Saying that the gas prices has "crashed" is also a huge overstatement. Maybe if it dropped below $3 you could say it crashed.
I am happy to be paying less than $50 for a full tank though.

Venezuela... yeah, they have government subsidized gas prices which are artificially low. They have been in the news a lot as being a major influencer in the world oil market. Politics. Not really why I posted the link. The idea was to post something upbeat and less Eeyore-like for a Monday morning. And as you noted, it's nice to not be paying upwards of $50 for a tank of gas.
I'm okay with the use of the word crash considering the same amount as an increase is habitually called skyrocketing. "Crash" takes up less space to type than "falling like a stone." :-D
