I am looking for some help in regards to which credit card I should use for my travels across Europe.

My plan is to travel for approximately three months across Europe. My fixed costs as I see it are as follows:

Flights + Eurail Global Pass + Insurance = $8,000
Hostels + Food = $2,000 +/-

Total cost = $10,000 +/-

What I want to do is put it all on a credit card and then pay it off over the next year, preferably with an intro rate of 0% interest over the first 6 months/1 year.

My question is: which credit card offers what I'm looking for?

I love the travel insurance that comes with AmEx.

I never have to buy rental car insurance nor flight insurance b/c it comes as part of my AmEx coverage.

I already have AMEX Blue but I no longer have 0% apr, btw.

 

The problem with AmEx in Europe is that not all places accept it. When I went to Greece a couple years ago, it was hit and miss at any given island visited.

Needless to say, all the places that didn't accept AmEx took my Providian Visa without hesitation.

 

Remember to carry cash as some smaller places/less populated locations only accept cash.

When do you plan on going?

i went on contiki back in aug-sept 2008 for 3 weeks.
had a badass time. basically a large party bus with mainly australians
went to 10 countries in europe
i think everyone should do it.
we went when our US dollar was the weakest probably
in the uk, things were 2x and everywhere else in europe was 1.5x the cost
in all, with airfare, contiki, extra excrusions, purchases cost us about $12,000 (my wife and i)
im sure if we went when i our dollar was stronger, it would have been closer to $8-9k
