the code i pulled was the same both before and after swapping the IAC "low voltage".

i have not checked the timing. the next time it stalls out on me (which i hope is soon), i am going to check for fuel pressure and spark. i hope it is one of the two, because those are things i can "easily" fix myself.

my guess would be an electrical connection. wires to the battery (possibly along a wire path if the terminal connections are clean and tight) or ignition key lock cylinder contact point.

Check the timing.

Set up your fuel pressure gauge now, so when it does it again you can quickly check it.

the weather has been too cold, windy, or rainy to be fiddling with the car.

it has revealed a new symptom.

there is a high pitched whine coming from the rear seats. i removed the seats and the whine became louder. it's evident that the whine is coming from fuel pump.

clean out your fuel system
check the power going to your fuel pump--it could be your battery

the battery has been checked and is working properly.

i have yet to clean the fuel system, but i'm not sure how much a bottle of chemicals can cure. call me a skeptic.

i was thinking it could be your fuel pump, now that you say it's whining loud, makes me think more so.

If you're fuel pump is making excessive noise, it's a sign of a bad fuel pump or a strained fuel pump.

Next time pinch the fuel return line. That will increase the pressure in the fuel system long enough to see if that's the problem. Or put a gauge on it or...........Buy another accent for $1500 bucks.

Also remember the battery is just there to start the car and accessories. The alternator is what keeps the car running and charges the battery. You can disconnect the battery and the car will continue to run.

thanks for the heads up. the battery and the alternator were both tested and were well within spec.
