one of my classmate is a EMT now, he was a lifeguard before.
i read thru half of the EMT manual and promptly vomitted.
make sure you know how much they pay before starting anything at a JC/CC, last time i check it's not that much for the amount of work.
my other female friend just finish her nursing degree in CSULB and she's making about 3 times as much as a regular EMT right off the bat, but that's a four year+ nursing program with a bunch of school "Stuff"
good luck

I am in a 2 month course, and I already know they get paid measley so and so dollars. I am also a real estate appraiser, I am doing this to supplement that work.
Thanks for the advice though.

i am an EMT up in the SCV. I worked at AMR N. LACo ops for two years. it was good experience due to the fact that they have a 911 contract with LAco fire. The company in itself sucked for the most part. I am now working in two different area emergency depts. if you have any questions about anything pm me, i am also a preceptor for students in the er. so if you need to pick someones brain let me know.

EMT makes good money if they work in the hospital, 15-16/hr but for a private it doesn't pay so well.
As for the class, you need to be on top of things, there is no slacking. It is very hard and intense, no kidding. The book is thick as hell and you need to read all the pages and go through all the chapters in the book. If you can keep up with the class then you should be fine. Get your physical finished with as soon as possible because some shots takes 2-3 weeks for results. First day of class is always pack but as the weeks go by it'll start to dwindle down and half way through the class, 1/2 of the class so that'll give you an idea of how the class is.
Good luck, any questions feel free to PM me.
