I'm looking to move to Southwest LA and wanted to see if anyone here lives in the Hawthorne/Inglewood area. I just got a job offer in the El Segundo area.

How safe is the city?

Any good/bad neighborhoods?

Are there any cities nearby that would be a better alternative but have comparable living expense as Hawthorne/Inglewood?



Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 

What city do you currently reside in?
Inglewood and Hawthorne have there issues, gangs and crime issues. I've pass by inglewood and there's parts of the city that have nice houses.

 

I'm moving from Bakersfield actually.

 

Moving in 2 weeks, any help would be appreciated.

 

Torrance, Redondo Beach, El Segundo...cities on the west side.

If your looking for a place I recommend you check with west side rentals. My friends have had good experiences with them.

 

I've seen good and bad in those areas, if you're looking for trouble you can find it anywhere, difference in some of those areas is you have to work to avoid it a little. My brother spent a lot of time in some bad parts around there and he's still breathing.

 

I live in Hawthorne!
By the airport.
My neighborhood is a good area. All private houses.
Its the appartment areas and the ugly parts that you have to stay away from, for example the doty projects. Around prairie and el segundo.

 

Yeah those are the good parts from this area ^^^^

 

I would never live there..I drove thru there a couple of times and the hood is about 90%/ 10% nice... I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I also go play poker at the Hustler casino and it's every bit sketchy there as well. If you are making decent money, why not check out Culver City, Marina, Redondo, etc.. Good luck out here man! Will be 100000x's better than Bakerfield.

 

North side of Centinela up to Slauson is good, and just east of La Brea running north up to Slauson into Windsor hills is good. East of La Cienega in Ladera going down into Culver City (Centinela) to Fox Hills Mall.
I grew up In Inglewood. Its not bad as it could be.
