they run your plates and match the VIN designated to that plate. they have access to DMV records at the ref station.

my advice: look for a stock OEM exhaust and swap it back on. Make sure you have a cat on as well.

Good Luck!

oh yeah, and this ticket was issued by Glendale PD.

Thanks man

I'll either do the swap (much more work) or try the steel wool trick..

Worse that happens is they don't pass me, and then Ill swap the exhaust

The 2 hours that you spent on here...

You could of taken off your aftermarket and put on a OEM and get it signed off already.

And for what it's worth, the Espelir exhaust is famous for being quite loud, even with the silencers installed. Just my .02

Yes the REF is THE authority when it comes to emissions and exhaust sound related citations! Show the judge that you passed inspection by the ref (for whatever you were cited for) and will be good.

i'm pretty sure if you go to the ref on your own good will (not because you received a citation) to get your exhaust dB level tested, they can provide you documentation of what sound levels it emitted and if it is legal. usually the refs are nicer when you don't come w/ a ticket in hand and are more willing to help as well.

^^ or you can carry a DB Meter and show the officer yourself how much noise the exhaust emits. i believe your fine if it's under 95 decibels.

Were you in Walnut near Nogales High School? I saw a yellow ap2 pulled over there last night right before I got pulled over for a modified exhaust also.

It can't be louder than OEM.
