All the shots above were taken with my 70mm-200mm 2.8 IS Canon Lens. I want to pick up a 300mm 2.8 IS but its big big money.

Im thinking about putting that red and silver O in the side of my S. any thoughts?

The last mega meet was like that with all the photogs there...

Jrods, did you shoot with such a large depth of field on purpose? I can't see why you'd want so much in focus in those shots. I'd probably shoot those pics at f3.5 with a neutral density filter. That's some nice glass you've got. Let's see those f-stops you paid for!

One more thought -- if you want more distance you should consider "downgrading" to a 20D and spending the difference on a lens. The reason is simply that my camera gives me a 1:1.6 multipler which makes every lens automatically 60% longer on my camera. So, you'd get a 100-300 mm lens and I'd get 160 - 480 mm. Suddenly, telescopes don't seem that special

Final thought, check out the 100-300 f5.6 L lens from Canon. It's about 10-15 years old now but you can find mint glass on eBay for ~$250. It's quite the steal, and the non-L version is only ......... $80! That's like a filter on a new L lens.

If you're looking at the 2.8, also try the f4 300M L lens with IS. It's arguably the better lens for some situations and is 1/3 the cost:

Well when shooting the cars i go for the larger depth becuase alot of my shots are used for print ads and/or blown up for displays and all the sponsors on the want to see their logos nice and crisp.

When i shoot people or things that are not moving at 330mph i usually blow out the background. The night shots with these cars are a bit tuff at times figure they go from 0 to 100 in less than a second.

we need to spend a day shooting.

here is one with some blur
