Default AEM

Aem makes both the V2 and a CAI. Everyone raves about the v2 gains and sound but when i looked at AEM dyno sheets the CAI made more power. Can anyone explain this and which is better?

CAI

V2

Thanks for your time.

Based on dyno graphs I have seen, the AEM V2 is better suited for the S2000 than the AEM CAI. Call this strange because the CAI usually provides better gains, but not in the case of an S2000. The V2 for the S2000 is actually a CAI, but because the intake piping size is "stepped" it seems to work better.

Apples & oranges. You were comparing a MY2000 V2 vs a MY2004 CAI. The links you provided aren't working but judging from the product code in the URL, I think this is what you were getting at.

The links I believe you tried posting:
MY2004 V2

MY2000 CAI

Now, if you compare the other dyno, MY2004 V2 vs MY2004 CAI, you'll see that the V2 gained power. Also, note the different RPM range that it's broken down in.

MY 2004 V2

MY 2004 CAI

The way they labeled it on their site is a little misleading until you look at the actual dyno for the model year.

As 2QYK4U pointed out, they're both CAIs (cold air intakes).

I got a snorkel and a afe drop in filter. Less chance of hydro-lock. I believe less chance of hassel if cop has you pop the hood. Works great!

I also believe that Back-Cracker or 1 of the moderates/CO posted a DIY thread regarding making a umbrella for the filter for those who have a CAI. I didnt want to go through the hassel of all that when the rain comes. Then when changing the filter ... u gotta drop the bumper.
