ive always heard "once you're and bmw driver, you're always a bmw driver".

personally, i think their um. boaty. fast, torquey, but boaty. with a small frame, don't need that tank.. not practical for someone who would just slide all over the seats *nice seats tho, esp with the 1.2 million seat adjustments

Owning both a S2000 and a M3, ( my girl drives a 323 also), there is no better all around car than a BMW. Also if the M3, at 4400 pounds, ever hits the s2k, it will slice through it like a hot knife through butter. My next car i get my girl will be a x5, I wouldnt trust her safety to anything less. I come from being in a head on crash at 80 mph in a 328. I walked away without any injuries. To BMW Build quality.

dont mean to offend any bmw owners, but just for personal reasons i wouldnt buy them. my best friend has a 2002 7 series and that thing is in the shop every month. when you pay over 50K for a car, you would think that they can build something reliable. i mean, i love driving his car when it works, but every time its in the shop, he gets a loaner car. its usually a toyota camry...go figure.
50k??? try 80k, my friend had one too, it had a bunch of problems also, he also had the new 530I. I drove both a lot, me and him both agreed the 530I was a way better car opposed to the 745I.

oh ok, I thought safety was your main priority. Volvos do loose a bit when it comes time to resale I guess.

I think german cars are a bit safer because of the autobahn.

but Volvo's still king in that department

Well a combination of maintance, safety, looks, performance, comfort, resale. That why i would chose a bmw. Sure there are cars that may excel in one of those catgegories, but bmw excels in all of them.

Is volvo as good as it was since it has been aquired by ford.

supposedly ford owns Volvo, but doesn't get involved. Maybe it's true now, but give it time I'm sure ford will. Just like they did with range rover & jaguar. I hope not, Volvo is/was a damn good car.

ever see their safety vidoes? no other car mfg compares, they go well beyond the bar. well they did maybe it will change now that ferrrrrd owns them.

i had a 2003 325i.

325i = POS

I noticed its hit and miss with the maintainance. Mine was in the shop once every three weeks . It was BS! I took really good care of that car, and got nothing but trouble back.

Hello BMW ... people dont have fun taking their cars into the shop.

It's funny you mentioned that, from the people I've asked that owned a BMW, half said loved it, half said hated it.
