Looks like i'll 90% be there. Let me take some pics with your lens again Brian 
i found out why my camera can't AF with yoru lens...the D40 doesn't have a built in AF motor 
It only work with Lenses that have their own servos. I'm looking into a D80 now...lemme know if you know where i can get one for cheap
