2nd Hit and Run in under a Year
Since moving to So. Cal last July, both my wife and myself have been victims of hit a run. Last July my S2000 was hit in the parking garage of a temporary living arrangement in Marina Del Rey (after suffering not even a scratch for 3.5 years). Just today my wife's new Acura MDX was hit in the parking lot of a store in Valencia. Both were done while we were away from the car and in neither case was there a note or a witness.
Just unbelievable.

Scott,
That just sucks. I've been lucky enough to catch people when they hit me. Both times I was hit while my old Prelude was parked, the alarm went off and I was able to get out in time to see what was going on.
You have to wonder why insurance is so high in LA. People just not taking responsibility for their actions.

First of all, I'm sorry for your frustration and situation.
Second, I think this is endemic (if that's the right word) of society as a whole. People have no regard for others, let alone their property and don't want to take responsibility for what they do or don't do.
It's sad.
Sometimes, I honestly wonder if I'm the last honest man in S. CA and if so, if I'm a sucker for not joining the rat race.

No Marc, it's all over. People have become very inconsiderate. A guy in front of me at a big intersection sits in the crosswalk on greeni. So I pulled out and got in ftont of him, He lays on his horn, I flip him off -- inconsiderate bastard. He follows me home and stops in the street in front of MY HOUSE and I walk up to his car, and he takes off. I'm gettimg too old for this shit.

I don't know how this city compares to others because the other places I have lived (Seattle and Wisconsin) I never got struck while parked. To get it twice here in 8 months is either really bad luck or a harbinger of worse to come. Either way I am out about $600 in deductibles ($100 on the first and $500 on the second) along with time, aggravation, etc. Makes me want to mount some kind of camera on the car that engages when I am parked. I'd love to get a plate or some other evidence especially when it's a hit-and-run.
I expected it more in LA proper, but no so much in family friendly Santa Clarita. It just goes to show how little people regard others and how selfish we have become.
