15,000 mile service - how much should I be paying?
#1
I took my car in for service today at Woodland Hills Honda for the 15,000 mile service and I get the feeling that I am getting raped. They are charging me $220 to do the service. What should this service run me on an average? I even looked up the maintenance schedule and from the looks of it this particular service calls for a lot of inspecting, nothing really is changed other than the oil and a few filters here and there. Thanks.

Well you can modifiy the 15K tune up yourself. All they do is check your tires/brakes/oil/fluids/hoses/ and that's it!
What I did was:
Oil Change=20.00
Tranny Fluid=45.00
Diff Fluid=45.00
My grand total was:110.00 and I more than that 15K will ever do for me. Read your S2000 manual, and it'll tell you what you need. You don't need to pay the dealer 1hr worth of work (80.00) to inspect your belts/brakes/fluids..
Hope that helps
BTW I change my oil every 2,500, Tranny 10,000-15,000 and differential=10,15000 mi.

Thanks a mil. I think I'll do that next time. Are there any benefits to taking the car to the dealer for service? Just to have some kind of record with the problems that the car might run into? I have always just felt more confident taking the car to the dealer and having them just fix stuff, since the car in under warranty and all. I don't know, I guess I have mixed feelings about this issue since I know they are always going to try to rape you.

threaten to call the honda service hotline, or something like that. Honda is very pickey about service and will create hell for the dealership if it overcharges or does bad work.

i ended up paying 129.99 and that's including replacing the so called "$100" micron filter. I basically called the four service centers in the valley and had them beat or match the prices.
