it's a giveaway that you're from socal
like "hella" for a lot of bay area people
or "wicked" for east coast
"you know" for minnesota peeps
it's pretty funny how many stereotypes are very true

Then it looks like you've only lived in CA as well. People in other states use the article too. And I've heard "wicked" mainly from people from the UK and Australia, while everyone says "you know." Unless Caroline Kennedy is a closet Minnesotan also lmao.
I'm saying it's primarily here in socal on this side of the US. Out east I heard wicked mostly when traveling through new england area, you hear wicked out here mostly in Washington and parts of northern oregon
I'm not saying it's ONLY socal
And the youknow i'm talking about is a particular way they say it. I heard it all through Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota while traveling around that part of the midwest/north
The accents in the Carolinas are great though
NC girls by far my favorite

I haven't lived outside of CA on the west coast, but having had a girlfriend who was from OR and visiting that state extensively, I've noticed that they say 'the' when using a freeway number too. And asking for directions in WA (ok Seattle), they say 'the' as well. So I would declare that it would be more appropriate to say that not using 'the' when referring to a freeway number indicates you're from the Bay Area, as opposed to using 'the' means you're only from SoCal.
Haven't heard wicked used in OR or WA, but then again I'm only in those states once a year lately, and I haven't done much traveling on the eastern seaboard aside from NYC and DC.
I understand the 'you know' that you're referring to now, lol. It was heard in the movie Fargo as well.
Haven't been to NC (except for the airport in Raleigh), but I've been to TN, and I would state that the TN accent is better. But then again, I'm biased since I've known Knoxville girls, and Megan Fox happens to be from there too.
