SoCal

A good high school friend is getting married in L.A. in mid-January and wants me to be a Groomsmen so I'll be in town for a few days. Just wanted to know if anyone has any hook-ups at local hotels in the area. He said to stay somewhere near LAX. After an initial search I found several hotel, Hilton, Sheraton, etc. Can anyone recommend anything?
I haven't been to L.A. since I was about 11 so its been awhile How is the weather in January? How far from the airport are local attractions? Any recommend nightlife places?
Anyone up for a meet? Maybe a Happy hour?
