%^#$! muffler shops
So I went to install my Berk TP today and realized that with ramps, there is simply no way to get far enough under the car. I decided to call a few local muffler shops and get prices for the job, figuring it can't be much more than $20 or $30 bucks.
I called five places. Not ONE shop understood what I was asking for. None of them had heard of a "test pipe" or "straight pipe". I finally explained it was a piece that bolted on to replace the cat, and most of them would then say they didn't have the parts?
I give up for the day.

most places will not do it, even if its your part and they are just doing the labor they could get in trouble with EPA
If you go there in person with CASH in hand they might do it?
as far as they know you are a cop going to bust them for messing with smog equipment

Sounds like they are playing dumb. Any shop that will say they will to a test pipe over the phone to a stranger is asking for a big fine.

test pipe = VERY illegal(especially in Cali).
I installed mine with one jack stand fully extended under the passenger side front. i had plenty of space to crawl under there and work. unless ur over weight you should have more than adequate space....
I metioned my old test pipe to the muffler guy that did my resonator delete, and he just nodded and said dont get caught with that buddy, and we arent having this conversation right now.

just do it yourself its easy! just a few bolts....can't miss, sometimes they're hard to get off....use a pipe as a cheater bar and make sure you have the right size wrench so you don't strip anything out...and when you put it back together tighten it down good cause that thing gets hot

I run a muffler shop. People ask about test pipes all the time. I just say NO !!! and yes it's a big ass fine for me and you. Just run the cat S2000's dont pick up much by adding a test pipe. just smells bad and the check eng light will come on Only do a test pipe if your car has lots of mods and really needs one. ok thats my $0.02
