Tires
It looks like I will need to change out my rear tires before S2k days. I have the original rears and they have almost 15K. I stopped by Les Schaub tires and got a price quote of $485 out the door to replace them with the same S02's that are on them now. After reading many different opinions it seems that these are still the best tires for my driving style even though the treadwear is not the greatest at 15K per set. Anyone bought rear tires recently and can tell me if this is a decent price? Any other suggestions on either other tire options or locations other than Les Schaub to purchase them.
Thanks for your input.

That's a ripoff!! Order them from Tirerack and have them installed at Big O off of Cosumnes. Tires will be $319.49 shipped (directly to Big O from Tire Rack) and install will be $50. Total is $369.49, saving you $115.51, which you may spend on a mod for my car if you wish...
Okay, it was worth a try.

Mitch, if you choose s03's instead, I think you can get them at Costco. This isn't confirmed, but I'm pretty sure. You may be able to get s02's. If you don' t trust Costco to install them then you can pick them up and get the installed at Costco. You may save even more money and can buy me something instead of Rob. He just got a 4.44 so it's my turn!

I agree with station!
I just purchased two rears from TireRack last week, and they were on my door step in 2 days. I shopped prices, and no one could touch the TireRack price (not to mention, you don't have to pay sales tax!).

Thanks all for your help and advice. After reading all the Tire reviews on the Tire Forum and talking to Jim at TireRack I decided I wanted to stick with the S02's. I ended up pricing the TireRack and all the local dealerships. I really liked the TireRack's customer service and they were very helpful. They definitely beat everyone's price until I found the Big O I was planning on having them installed at was able to get me out the door for only $13 more than if I would have if I had gone through the TireRack and had them installed at any of the local shops. So I went with them. Although I would certainly have gone with TireRack if Big O couldn't have come so close. Thanks again all for your input and we will see you at S2K days!!

Tron, The s02's are softer and stick better. The s03's are supposed to last longer. You sacrifice grip with the s03's for extended treadlife. I got this from reading posts on the board. I have not personally tried both types as my OEM's are still with tread at 21000 miles.
