I will be on vacation outside California.

And even if I wasn't i'm still waiting on replacement rotors. I ordered from a rockauto.com and they sent me an inferior set. I had to send them back today.

I got the correct set of rear rotors and went to put them on yesterday.

To my surprise, I have very little pad left at all! One of the pads was even worn completely to the backing! Those were brand new pads!

I knew going in that Hawk HPS pads weren't the best choice for the track but I didn't expect them to be THAT bad. By the middle to the end of the day I had progressively worse fade and trashed rear rotors.

Needless to say I won't be buying Hawk HPS any longer.

I've heard good things about the Ferodo DS3000 but those are straight up track pads - not to be driven on the street.

The Ferodo DS2500 doesn't appear to be much different than the Hawk pads I had.

It appears that I'm gonna have to switch out pads for track duty. Many of the pads that seem to work well for my car on the track don't translate well to the street.

A lot of the S guys (bay folks) run the DS2500. Ask tekstar since he was looking into these. Then again your Z is a little heavier so the 3000's might be a better deal.

Yea ... its close to apples and oranges to compare the braking needs of our diff cars.

As you stated, pads will be faster to fade on my car than on yours do to the weight. Also, our setups are probably a lil different as nissan made the rear brake pads on non-brembo versions of the Z fairly small.

I could actually live with a little bit of fade ... but this wearing thru the entire pade and destroying the rotor business is unacceptable and will make track days prohibitively expensive at this point.

I have some leads on a few sets of pads that will actually stand up to some track duty and are good on the street. Other Z owners have had some success with Endless S sport, Project Mu B-force, and Porterfield R4.

I vouch for porterfield! I've used them on the Camry for tracks and worked great. Crazy brake dust like never before though
