New to the Area

New to the Area
I am in Sacramento Area. I owned this S2000 since 2004. I had it from 2004 to 2010. Then due to work I had to move to Detroit, so I transfer my title to my cousin who lives in Dallas. He kept it for me for the past three and half years. I recently moved to Sacramento California. I got my car back and just received my title 5 days ago. Happy to be reunited with my baby.
I live in a quiet area in Pocket/Sacramento. The community is gated. I parked my car almost in the middle of the "U" shape neighbor community. Unless someone has been into the community, no one should have known the car is parked there from the outside. I only have been driven that car couple of times the past 2 weeks. The car was broken into and the removable hardtop is stolen between 3 am to 6 am of 1/16/2014.
The serial number of the hardtop is 69100S2A901ZZ. It is a black OEM hardtop I had since 2004. If you ever acquiring a hardtop, please check the serial number so to make sure that you are not purchasing a product of criminal conversion.
If anyone in the community have found this hardtop on the internet, please kindly notify me.
Very sincerely appreciated.

Hello, sorry to hear it especially when you have such long relationship with your S2000.
I live in the Pocket area myself and I generally think it's a pretty safe area. Never expected anyone would do that and the surprising thing is it happened inside a gated community.
There are several ways you could prevent future and here are some ways that I could think at this moment:
1. Park inside a garage if possible, if not then don't park in the middle of the U
2. Install an alarm (!!!)
3. Get to know your neighbours as soon as possible, this will help promote a safer neighbourhood.
4. Possibly get a set of wheel locks and seat locks now that they know there's an S2000 there...
Coincidentally I saw a full silver S2000 with a silver OEM hardtop a few days ago from my window...but yours was black right?

I took the liberty of posting a link to this at NorCalS2k. So there should be a small army of concerned S2k'ers now on the look-out.
Sorry to hear about your car. That really sucks.

2. Alarms wouldn't work unless you had the noise sensor added for braking glass. With out it. Smash 2 windows unhook top and side latches And walk away.
3. Always good
4. They have hard top locks from heeltoeautomotive you can add to the list too

What the hell, this is horrible!!! I sold mine because I was afraid one day someone would steal it. First thing I would look at, is what car guys are in your neighborhood... And start there.
