Need advice: Should I buy an S2k?
Hey guys,
I'm planning on buying a new car in the next couple months, and I'm thinking about going with a lightly used S2000. The only problem is that I'll be going to UOP in stockton for the next 3 years.
Do you guys think it's a smart buy? Am I asking for problems?
I realize that the most commonly stolen cars are the ones that can be used for parts, and there can't be a very large market for S2000 parts (maybe seats for Civics/Integra?)..
Help? I love the S2000..

I"m sorry, I don't know what UOP is? Get the s2000. There hasn't been major crime that we know of in Sac. The Bay Area has had it's fair share of s2000 crime though. I'd say go for it!

WOW! I wasn't even close to being able to buy a S2000 when I was in college. I was lucky to have my civic. Well, If you are able to deal with the small storage space(I used my car for storage a lot in college), I see no reason against it. Factors like where you live, and where the car is parked may contribute to theft(college town maybe more of a target). And on a personal level, I would be really scared to park my S in a school lot but your situation may be different. Other than that I say go for it too! Good luck!

If you're worried about theft, you can always get a good alarm, auto-lock, lojack, pager, shotgun, pitbull, etc........although not a 100% full proof, they all can be a good deterent.
BTW, the central valley forum gets traffic - there's a couple of us that frequent it Central Ca. should just merge into one with the Sac crew

I guess I'm pretty scared of theft. I know 2 guys that had their cars stolen in the same week. I hope there isn't much of a market for stolen S2k pieces.

Lee, before I bought my house I lived in a crappy apartment. Cars got broken into there quite a bit. There were nights I was so tired that I forgot to put my top up or the windows up. I don't have an alarm or anything. Nothing ever happened to my car. I may have been very lucky. I think it was luck, but also the parts in the car that can be used elsewhere are not so easily removed. (Seats, lights).
