JFS,
Did they cite you for posted speed or maximum speed?
If they cited you for posted speed limit they need to have a valid speed survey on that road, and I believe there might be a code section that requires they provide that document to you.
If they wrote you up for violating a maximum speed, no speed survey is needed, but it should drop the over the mph to 10.
Good luck.

as an attorney who has defended many accused of traffic violations, I suggest that you fight the ticket. There are a number of circumstances which could happen in your favor and result in a reduced fine, traffic school, and even a dismissal. I fought a ticket for myself a few weeks ago and it went from a $420 ticket to a $100 ticket/traffic school/no conviction.

Damn I drive through there all the time going to Thunder Valley. Cops like to post up on the side. I always drive the speed limit there or follow someone driving faster than me so they'll get caught LOL
I always try to drive slow in that area, I try to drive slow regardless, I've even been pulled over for driving too slow.
I have zero luck with cops. The first time I was pulled over, was in Roseville, and the Cop asked "what are you doing in Roseville, just passing through town?"
Oh well, at least you made it three months, I got one the 2nd day. BTW, that cop said, "driving daddy's car tonigh huh?"

i was going 65 in a 35 school zone on my crotchrocket before, and just got a huge fine, but i also didnt have insurance
its bs though, in korea they have cameras to help detect speeding and it works better because they have signs telling you about it, so you always slow down, in the states its really about the money, otherwise they wouldnt hide to get you, they'd just show you where at, and you'd slow down
