Ok. Time for the next drive! Hopefully some of you who missed the last one can make it out this time.

As usual, tell us what you think. Then we can see roughly what the crowd think.

The first two suggestions requires more planning and also more volunteer efforts. We can have some discussions here. When I think the discussion is mature enough to realize the drive, I will go ahead to work with other people to make it happen. So far, we made pretty good progress on the SF drive. I will scout once more this Sat to finalize the route. Then we need people to volunteer as photographers. My idea is to have two photographers in the lead group and two in the tail group such that we can take pics from two ends. Anyone who can step up???

Routes:
1) SF Photogenic Group Cruise (I will try to scout it once more on 3/2 to finalize the route.)
2) Try to organize a drive with NSXCA or the exotic car club we met last year (I think a drive with NSXCA is very possible. As to the exotic car club, I think we can give it a try.)
3) Mt Diablo
4) Hwy 152 from Watsonville to Gilroy (Mt Madonna)
5) Redwood Rd - Pinehurst Rd - Skyline Blvd (near Oakland)
6) Calaveras Rd near NE San Jose
7) La Honda Rd (ie Hwy 84, starting from Hwy 1 side)
8) Other Suggestions?

Dates: (3/16-17 are out because of the MADD group drive and NASA HPDE)
1) 3/9 (Sat)
2) 3/23 (Sat)
3) Other dates?

Skyline is in Oakland, not near Pleasanton. What you should consider is tying Redwood and Calaveras together with Palomares Road, which is one of my favorite local roads. The connector between Calaveras and Palomares is the Niles Canyon road, which is interesting. To get between Palomares and Redwood you cover a bit of frontage road along 580 and a bit of regular streets through Castro Valley.

The only concern I would have with the route is that there are very few places to stop and collect the group on any of these roads. There is exactly one spot on Calaveras Road, at its highest point, where a bunch of cars could stop, nowhere on Palomares, and only a few spots on the south end of Redwood. I really haven't taken Skyline or Pinehurst, but need to try them out. There are other interesting roads through the hills off of Redwood.

These are interesting tight twisty roads.

I love that stretch, Scott, you have my vote. Niles canyon Rd is a slow go but a very pretty drive. Ever stop in Specialty auto in Pleasanton? Redwood and Palomares are great.

hey, I live like right off of Palomares Road. So its real close for me.

However, I'd go anywhere if the NSX club is involved. How cool is that?

ANyone here has connections with the NSX club?

I prefer Redwood southbound, but Palomares and Calaveras northbound (when I get a choice). They're all good both ways.

I'll look forward to a future drive on those roads.

So far people like 5) and 6) combine together. If we go this route, we can start at the shopping mall at McKee/Capitol.
http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Typ&n...8456&cs=9&mag=8

Then we go Sierra Rd and then Calaveras and then up.

Anyone knows any good restaurant close to Pinehurst/Skyline in Oakland?

Also, how about the date?
