it might but it might not the only thing that the second o2 sensor measures is cat efficiency so right now since its broken inside its probably not getting a significantly noticable difference in gas measurements between the two o2 sensors but good luck in finding a cat maybe you can just go with a test pipe for the meantime.
the thing is...i need to get my car smogged and i can't with this CEL...

I have smog hook ups for the visual but i've heard that you can't pass with the test pipe

i was thinking about getting the testpipe w/ mechinical simulator since its a cheaper way to go, but apparently u can't pass the emissions portion of it.=/

if the cat is bad, it would throw a cel.. it could also mess up the o2 sensor also. if you were closer i can check the cel for you at my work. maybe you can have someone do that for you. tell you off the bat what is wrong.

joon,

dont bother picking up one at the dealer. it is very pricey. even with my discount, you are still looking around $700

you are better off try to see if anyone is selling a used one, eBay, or classified ads.

you can also try car dismantling like HAP or LKQ.

I might be going to a car dismantling this weekend. I try to look for you one there and give you a call
HAP or other recyclers probably wont sell you a used cat, its against the law. Best bet is to try WTB in main forum or Craigslist

Check magnaflow's web site. They claim to have OBD2 CARB compliant cats.

If you need an O2 sensor try asking anyone who owns a repair shop if they order from world pac. world pac carries the denso O2 sensors identical to the OEM ones but at a much lower price

Thank Brian I appreciate it...I'm not sure if my O2 Sensor is fried too...cause I got a CEL...would a fried CAT cause a CEL?

Basically, I'm getting this annoying rattling @ idle, underneath the mid section of the car...and I've read that the rattling is from the CAT when the honeycomb part breaks off and starts to move around in there

and also, i get this weird exhaust smell...

other than that the car runs fine.
If your cat. is broken isn't Honda liable to replace it by law?
