Would anyone be willing to let me borrow a torque wrench?

Note - as I type this I'm replacing my second oil pan of the week because the oil change place down the street stripped plug, they just "wrench it on" and every time I tell them that the spec is only 22 ft.lb.

I used to think on the sames lines as you. After becoming a mechanic and working on cars professionally for 10 years now I feel I NEED to make a comment on this. I use a torque wrench for just about EVERYTHING. I have 5 different torque wrenches to make sure I can torque whatever I need to to spec. I know I can put a spark plug in without using a torque wrench but why would I want to take a risk of damaging threads or having a plug come out. The same thought goes for all bolts on the car.

I never torqued a drain plug until I did this for a living and never had a problem either, but also never had a car with an aluminum oil pan too..

I did specify "car". My bike(s) have been a total different story, I let the dealer do most of the work.
My first bike (93 GSXR 600) was a bike I borrowed for an extended period of time, never did ANY maintenance. The second bike, I had the job I have now before I did any oil changes myself, and on that bike (2000 GSXR 750) I torque every bolt I touched.
