I ran a 255/40/17 on my TE37 in the back (17x8.5" +50), lowered about an inch with -2

would you guys recommend using spacers on stock wheels? say a 10mm spacer in the front and 225 to compensate for a more aggressive stance?
10mm spacer means you will have to change your wheel studs... not a cheap task

I ran 225's with a 3.5mm spacer on my stock AP2 front wheels with no problem. I would not recommend autocrossing or HPDE with the spacers as I only really had maybe 5 turns of the lugnut. (I am sure you probably could and it would be fine... but I am a little conservative)

I would take R-Compounds over a 10mm wider track any day of the week.

Personally, I don't think a 7mm wider track did a damn thing, except look "pretty." I am sure a 25mm wider track would do a lot... but a 10 is just not enough for the trouble. IMHO

And if you were wondering about swapping out wheel studs:
Wheel stud replacement costs

The only other way to get it done is to get a wider spacer that has included wheel studs.
