Default Why is my Carpool lane ticket $526?

December has turned into an expensive month, Carpool Lane and Speeding Ticket. I wonder if someone can chime in as to how are the fines determined? Because my Carpool ticket is a whopping $526. How can this be? The signs on the freeway say $271. How can the state be out of MONEY?

I know I broke the law and I own up to it but $500+ for a carpool ticket is just ridiculous. Can I go to court to get the fine reduced?

Those signs are very old. Currently min fine is $381. That doesn't include any additional fines that are tacked on by your local county/city.

271 is without administrative fees is my guess. It's just like the 25 dollar cell phone ticket that ends up being over a hundred dollars.
Complete BS is what I think it is, everybody just keeps ripping each other off.

My speeding ticket is less than the Carpool lane ticket. I really don't see how the State can be out of money. I may try to go to court to get it reduced but then I will have to pay a court fee to go to court which maybe additional cost that could lead to no savings.

BTW, the legislative bodies have been limiting the ability of judges to lower fines lately. Some fines now are mandatory.

Why would you risk it in the first place? I constantly see people doing that and wonder why. It's too expensive if caught! Good luck getting it reduced...

Some times when you are late. You gotta do what you gotta do. I am fine paying it. But just ridiculous that it's 500 bucks. Expensive lesson learn to say the least.
