Maybe because it's better to learn how to ride on a smaller, less powerful bike . Not only is it safer, it will make you a better rider in the long run.

AMEN! I'm not a beginner rider. However, the R6 was too much of a bike for me. I like to ride for long period at time so a super sport is just plain tiring on distance ride. Also, price tag on a new SS is well over $10k and insurance is outrageous when compare to none SS bike. Plus naked bike is growing on me

heh, that's like 3 new s2000s.. and i totally agree Vu, i believe starting on a 250 makes you a better rider in the long run- i often regret not doing so myself.
