Who drove 680 Sunol grade this morning?
Brought traffic to a standstill, even though no southbound lanes were blocked...

PLEASANTON -- A big-rig careened off a freeway in Pleasanton Monday morning, igniting a grass fire and killing the truck's driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck, traveling north on Interstate Highway 680 near Bernal Avenue, struck the guard railing at about 6:15 a.m., went down the embankment and burst into flames, said Dublin CHP Officer Steve Creel.
Units with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to the scene and controlled the blaze by about 6:45 a.m. The driver was found dead in the wreckage, said Creel
The northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 680 remain closed at this time, Creel said. Traffic is being diverted off the freeway at the Sunol Road off-ramp and back on at Bernal Avenue.
Big rigs make the commute 10x more dangerous!

I was on 680S at 6:30. The place where the driver went off, they were either asleep with VERY bad luck, or they wanted to go where they did.
I am very sorry for the truck driver, but they did not need to close 680N. They could have left 1 and 2 open. The fire engine and paramedics were staged on the shoulder anyways. But I suppose better to be safe than sorry.
The 680S traffic was stalled because of all of the rubberneckers. Don't people know how to multitask nowadays?
