Crazy story!! Similar situation happened to me.

I parked in my girlfriends driveway. I come out to find half of my car blocking the sidewalk. I asked everyone in the house if they moved my car. Luckily it didnt roll all the way into the street.

Now I know to yank that e-brake harder when I park.

It's been a while I don't remember where we were but it was at the parking garage. As we were walking out, a car without the "driver" slowly rolling down and hit another parked car. We had to tell the parking attendant....

wow.. i'll pull ebrake extra hard next time. hey i heard from the dealership that it damages the LSD when the transmission is left in gear, so i never put it in gear. it really pisses me off when someone drives my car and leaves it in gear... like that body shop i left my car in... i need to have a word with them.......

Dealerships don't know shit. You are suppose to leave it in gear when you park. Doesn't hurt anything.

My suggestion is pull the parking brake up first then put it in gear. At least the pressure is more on your brakes and not on your gears.

Leaving a car in gear is a way of complimenting the parking brake. I have read 4-5 threads over the last two and a half years on this site where a car rolled away because the driver did not leave the car in gear which is not advisable.

The compression of the engine is what helps the parking brake hold the car in place. If a properly driven car will not harm the gears in the differential, a little bit of constant weight on the gears while the car is still, will NOT be detrimental in any way, shape or form to the diff.

As a matter of fact, anybody who tracks their S, and then pulls into the paddock and sets the parking brake....

I think this thread makes number six I have read where a car rolled that was NOT in gear.

I do canyon runs once in a while. I get my shit hot. When I pull into my driveway which is relatively flat, you think I'm gonna yank up on my parking brake?
