Where to buy a helmet (preferably in south bay)
I know this has been discussed before and have looked into bellmotorsports and frey racing which dont appear to exist anymore. I have tried going by a cycle gear and they only sell m2005 helmets, no sa2005.
does anybody know where in the bay area i can try on some autocross helmets?
preferably in the south bay, i live in palo alto and work in san jose.
Thanks,
-Ryan

I called vics, they only carry pyrotect and said they usually end up having to order. I was hoping for a bit more variety in one location. something similar to what i saw at cycle gear (a wall full of helmets) but with SA helmets.
I'll try calling ioport racing in la fayette and lpracing in livermore.

I got plugs on motorcycle parts and helmets. I can save you 15-18% on parts and gear from retail. Let me know what you are looking for. You have to pay cash though.
PM me for details

They have a lot of helmets(for motorcycles), doesn't hurt calling them to see if they have what you are looking for.
Or you can make a trip up to Wine Country Motor Sports at Infineon Raceway

io port: pyrotech and bell - said they have a decent number in stock to try on
lpracing: i cant seem to find them to call
road rider: does not carry sa helmets
yea, i saw wine country motorsports, not too close but maybe i can make a fun drive out of it.
im thinking of buying a motorcycle as well, so i think it would be beneficial to spend a little extra money and get something i really like since im likely to wear it a lot more on the bike than the average driver uses it in the car.
maybe I can try on some arai motorcycle helmets at road rider or cycle gear to see what fits well and buy online (i know this isn't very nice to waste their time and buy elsewhere, but maybe if im up front about it they wont mind). you guys think the fit would be about the same as long as i get a similar shaped helmet?
You guys like your pyrotect helmets? would you buy the same thing if you were planning on dual purposing it as a motorcycle helmet that would get used ~once or twice/week?
Thanks for all the quick responses

I see no problem with using a M rated helmet for HPDE. Very minor differences between the two and only really a concern if you are actually racing. I've been using my M helmet for HPDE now for 6 years, but I do plan on replacing it with a SA helmet, because I don't ride anymore and the helmet I want is also SA rated.
