Snell is the same as SA. The only difference between a car specific helmet and a motorcycle helmet is the car specific ones are fire retardant. Useless for track days because in a fire, your body will burn, but your head won't if you don't wear a nomex suite.
Unless your ultimate plan is road racing in the future, a motorcycle helmet is the way to go. You can remove the liners on bike helmets and wash it unlike car helmets, (not sure why).

I've had problems trying to use an M rated helmet at track events before. The tech guys eventually let me go, but said not to use it again. If you don't plan to ride a motorcycle in the future, just pick up an SA2000 helmet.
