What is the width of the Comptech Exhaust/Header?
Hi Everyone...
I have Ap1 Comptech parts on my Ap2. Exhaust and Header. I'm trying to buy a HFC that will be the perfect width to mate with the other two parts. EDIT: I do not know the pipe size of the Comptech, please post up if you do!
The Asura HFC is 3", but I've been told that is too wide. The Asura guy assured me it was a good size, but he also assured me that his part would pass smog, and it didn't. Needless to say, I plan to test Asura's customer service skills and return the cat in search of something more optimal.
At this point, I'm not worried about passing smog. I will be passing smog with Whiteflash's borrowed OEM cat. I don't want to run a test pipe, I want a HFC.
Can someone recommend which Berk HFC I should use? Or recommend another brand and sizing?
I've put out the same question to CT engineering, but I trust the s2ki folk more.

What's the pipe size of the comptech? If it's a 63 you should get a 63 mm hfc. Carb # on the cat doesn't mean you'll pass the visual part of smog. You might if the tech is lenient, but considering hfc stopped being legal in 2009, I'd just change back to OEM cat when the time to smog comes.

1. I am posting to ask the pipe size of the Comptech. I bought the Comptech header and Comptech exhaust used. I assume they are all a consistent sizing, as I've not yet seen any discussion of differing width choices on comptech header/exhaust. All I know is that both my Comptech piece are originally made for the Ap1, but they fit my Ap2 successfully.
2. I'm not worried about CARB EO #s on my HFC. As stated in OP, I'll be borrowing an OEM cat for passing smog this year. I just want the best possible HFC for my Comptech exhaust parts.

I personally would not use any HFC
research it on the forums and you will read the Magnaflow cores go bad as well
today's E10 gas (10% ethanol/90% gasoline) will eventually eat up any stock or aftermarket substrate causing it to destroy the secondary O2 sensor
I would just use a test pipe and slap on an OEM cat when it comes time for a smog test

I just know the fumes would get me pulled over sooner than later.
They always seem to pull me over and harass me over my loud music or exhaust.
Surprisingly, rarely do I get harassed for driving "too fast".
