Default What have been your Favorite & Least Favorite Mods to your S?

Hey all,

I'm one to always ask a lot of questions and also find it helpful to see what others consider as their faves and "dos" or "don'ts." I think it'd be interesting and helpful to other owners as well, esp people that recently acquired their cars.

I'll post some of my own later. Gotta get back to biz.

I've only done one mod so far, and that was to replace the stereo head unit, new door speakers, amps, and a footwell subwoofer. Well, that could be considered more than one mod depending on how you like to define it. I just call it a "stereo upgrade". Absolutely love it, and seeing as how it's my only mod, it's definitely my favorite

ok, guess it was poor etiquette to start a thread w/out contributing. lol i've only had my S for about a year now, and i haven't done too much to it performance-wise. i don't drive it that often, and promised my gf not to go too crazy on it, as we do take it on roadtrips (bought & drove it back from the sticks in Texas). she's already not a real big fan of it because of how cramped and unforgiving it is. But here are a some of my thoughts after adding a few things.

Favorite Mods (not absolute faves. just going off the top of my head)
  • Stoptech steel braided brake lines
  • Stoptech Street Performance brakepads
  • Stoptech STR-600 brake fluid (similar to Motul RBF-600)
  • Centric Premium front & rear rotors

I had these installed right after I got the car back home to the Bay Area, so I can't really compare the braking performance to stock. I put stainless lines and better pads & fluid on all my cars that I drive spiritly though. I've always been happy with Stoptech's products. I'll have to admit that the difference wasn't as dramatic as when I put similar products on my street WRX (had a track one too), but the stock WRX brakes are pretty crappy (Bugeye, non-4 pot). I have Axxis Ultimate pads on the WRX too, which seem to have better initial bite. They dust like heck tho. Next thing I want to do is add a master cylinder brace
  • Blox differential collars & half shaft spacers

I had those installed together, so it's hard to gauge which is doing what. I know they're different parts, but looking back, I should've added them separately to get a better idea of their true benefits. The rear end of my car did feel more solid, as shifting and acceleration seemed more crisp. I didn't really have any noise or vibrations, prior to installing the half shaft spacers, so I guess those are more for peace of mind.
  • OEM Ap2 front lip
  • WASP Composite ABS w/carbon fiber wrap front lip protector

The front lip was actually my very first mod. On the way back from Texas, my gf & I stopped at Enjoy Racing in Arizona to get it. Ben & his guys were really cool and actually met us at the shop on a Sunday night because I running behind schedule, due to the POURING rain through Texas, New Mexico, and AZ. We didn't get there until about 11pm, but they still took the time to help me install it. They're really awesome guys. BEST prices on OEM Ap2, CR lips, and other OEM parts too.

The WASP lip protector is def one of my fave parts so far. It's not JDM or flashy, but I always like all my things to be tasteful. It's a well made product, priced well, and most of all, it's functional. It's survived a good number of scrapes on the treacherous, SF streets and other urban battlegrounds, and my OEM lip is still in very good shape. Just wish I got the protector 3 days earlier and before I put the first scrapes on my lip while driving in the Downtown SF/Union Square area.

Well, this is why I wanted to save my contribution until later. I'm always wordy as heck! lol I'll share some more when I have time though.

oops, didn't see those two sneak in while I was rambling. lol thanks for sharing though.

everyone doesn't have to write novels, like i always do. just let us know one, two, three, or 50 things that you like, enjoy, dislike, regret, etc.

Favorite: I have 2. Buddy club spec R coilovers + BBS LMs. The car is sexy stock, but with the lowered stance and rims, it just made a good thing look even better.

Least favorite: porno red interior. Not my fault; the previous owner swapped out the all black interior for red, I just left it the way it is because its not THAT bad to look at.

Favorite: CR Wing. Even it it was tough to put it all together on a non-CR trunk, I love the look it gives on my GPW. Coupled wih the CR lip of course makes it better.

Least Favorite: CR suspension height. Love the performance, hate the height. But it saves me from crazy mountain bumps and high driveways.

Favorite: APR GTC200 wing, I like that there was no modification needed to install it really and that the mounting points work with my OEM wing and so forth.

Least favorite: F1 Spec Bucket, It's out of the car right now and my stock seat is back in place but comfort's sake I like to sit in an OEM seat when I'm not at the track. I'll likely pick up a Recaro or something better to replace it later on.
