The problem with California gun laws is they are just hurting the law abiding citizen by limiting what we can and cant do vs the criminal who doesnt give a shit about the laws.

In California you're 33% more likely to be hurt/killed by a car than a gun. That was shocking to me.

You might like to see this - http://www.datamasher.org/mash-ups/f...vehicle-deaths

Here's another shocking stat:

- There are 700,000 physicians in the United States.
-There are 120,000 accidental deaths in the United States caused by physicians every year, and the accidental death percentage per physician is 17.1%.
-There are 80 million gun owners in the United States.
-There are 1,500 accidental deaths from guns every year, regardless of age group, and the accidental death percentage per gun owner is 0.001875%.

This means your doctor is 9,000 times more likely to kill you [BY ACCIDENT] than a legal gun owner [BY ACCIDENT]. Watch out for the doctor!

Rick review this - http://www.shouselaw.com/firearm-offenses.html should be helpful.
Would be curious to see the numbers when we factor in non-accidental deaths by gun/doctor. Something tells me the percentages would equal out a bit more.
You can do the research and report back....

Not much time, but a quick search found this (2007):
According to the Center for Disease Control(CDC)

In the year 2007

Homicide with a firearm: 12,129
Suicide with a firearm: 17,348
Death by accidental discharge of firearm: 721
And roughly 5,000 deaths from legal interventions(I.E. police shooting criminals)

37-40k people DIE each year from car accidents.

Rick maybe you should just get a bullet proof car. Our soft tops aren't going to stop anything

Rob, I should hope I would need a bulletproof car!

I did see an ad in Dupont Registry where a company would completely retrofit your S-class or SUV to sustain a road side bomb - must be one heavy car, can you imagine the gas mileage...hehe In those cases even a gun won't help much. Then again I don't see having a gun as an advantage in 99% of the situations I experience.

Shit, I know Tacoma isn't great, but I used to chill with friends around Hill Top and we never needed any guns...

I hope you never need it either. MPG is going to be horrible

I agree. For most situations leave the scene is best for you. Guns really are the last line. Pull to kill or be killed.

Are you considering starting to carry one now? Did something happen?

My friend bullet proofed his super charged hummer h2. I think the bomb and bullet proofing cost 40-60k. One draw back was that they didn't upgrade the brakes and the thing was near impossible to stop. I remember the doors were soooooo heavy it was ridiculous. I'll post some pics if I can find them.

Insurance isn't for the 99% of the times, it's for the 1% of the times.

Overly restrictive gun laws only guarantee one thing, that the criminal will be the only one in that 1% of the time situation with the gun.
