Default what do you think about this deal on a s2000

ok, im shopping around for a s2k and the best deal i have so far is a
my 00 silverstone completly stock , no windscreen or spoiler either.
right now the deal is at $19,500. it has 23k miles on it.
paint chips/scrathes here and there, not too many though
they did replace the fender because of road work and something happened and
messed up the fender cosmetically. well thats what they said.
the only problem is that when you step on the brakes, you get this weird squeeking/scrathy clunky noise or something
but it only happnes when you break. i called honda and they said $115 for a safety inspection and additional $115 for an inspection on each specific thing. im in the milpitas area and the car is near valley fair area.
i already chcked out the car once, is anyone in the area willing to check out the car with/for me?
should i spend the money to have honda check it out. i dont want to spend money if i dont buy the car but i dont want to buy the car and than spend a shtload later either. any opinions? what do you think about the deal itself, good/great/ok/bad

thanks

Hey Van,

I can check out the car with you sometime if you'd like. I don't claim to know very much about the mechanicals of cars, but I could tell you whether something seems normal (i.e. whether it happens on my car). I'm off from school this entire week so I could roll out with you on the evenings after work. PM or e-mail me if you wanna do that. Any day is ok, although I do have a massive fever today so I dunno how well this evening would work.

Btw, I need to get a 4WD/AWD car by winter, so I'm just about selling my car for certain now. If you're still interested in checking that out, you can do that too.

Laters...

What is the real reason the fender was replaced?? If I were you, I would DEMAND that the owner/seller provide you with a current printout of the cars alignment readings or NO deal, no exceptions.

Squealing could and can be considered normal. Clunking on the other hand??? There is a possibility that the replacement of the fender and the clunking go hand in hand. It sounds kinda fishy.

The car should NOT clunk when you hit the brakes. Sounds like something in the suspension.

Tell the owner you will consider buying the car if he or she takes it to a reputable front end/suspension shop (not honda) and measure all the alignment angles as well as inspect the suspension components. This is all one inspection.

$115 to inspect this and $115 to inspect that and $115 to inspect this??? F that, forget the H dealer, have the owner/seller take the car to a reputable alignment shop and have them pay for it. An alignment inspection should cost no where near $115. Maybe $25-30 for an inspection.
