Use www.Priceline.com it's like an auction for car rental prices. Just put in your bid and what type of vehicle and if there's one available you get it for the price + taxes that you chose. And the rental places are normally 24/7 so you can do a 1 day rental instead. Unless you want it for the entire weekend.
I was able to get a minivan for 7 passengers last weekend for $30.00
and you should have reception last i remember i was able to use my phone...im on verizon, not sure if any others work.
