Watch out for those Corvettes!
sad, needless loss of life
** from sjmercury.com**
A 51-year-old Roseville man died in San Jose Tuesday afternoon when the Corvette he was riding in smashed into a tree near the intersection of Paragon Drive and Charcot Avenue, San Jose police officer Enrique Garcia said today.
Greg Rousos was a passenger in the 2006 silver Corvette that driver Mark Johnsguard, 52, of Campbell, lost control of near the 2000 block of Paragon, Garcia said. The car then smashed into a tree, killing Rousos and seriously injuring Johnsguard.
San Jose police responded to reports of the crash around 1:45 p.m. Emergency crews declared Rousos dead on the scene and took Johnsguard to the hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
Police are investigating the crash and Garcia said it is unclear why Johnsguard lost control of the car, although speed may have been a factor.
