Default Warning About Ocean Honda in Capitula/Santa Cruz

When I first started looking for a Honda S2000 I called around California.. One place that I ended up calling was Ocean Honda in Capitula/ Santa Cruz.. I was looking for a S2k with the payment limit of 400.00... The sells guy told me that he could get me down to 400 and that he couldn't check my credit on the phone.. I told him my credit score was good.. So I get in my car (Trade in ) and drove it 3 hours to pick up the S2000...

I got in the Yellow s2000 to test drive it.. The Radio Cover Door was ripped off.. After driving it for a little I just thought I would just get the door off ebay for like 20 dollars..

So we go back to sign the papers and I look at the cost of the S2000... He raised it 7000+ dollars plus.. (payments 600+) after I already drove there..

That guy really pissed me off. I walked out.. 3 hours on the way back home thinking what a idiot that guy is..

A year later I happen to end up moving to the Santa Cruz area.. I also now have a s2000 and it was time for a new clutch.. I called ocean honda up about a new clutch and he said it would cost 1400 just for the part... I was thinking that has to be bull shit.. So I took it somewheres else..

Unfortunately there seems to be far too many shady dealers out there. What I don't understand is why the national organizations, and here I include all makes, don't do a better job policing their dealer network.

Car dealers' sales are down in general. They are already lowlifes and now they are going even lower to make money. Salesmen are openly lying and service departments are trying even harder to rip off customers to make up for the loss in profits. The dealer in my area is one of the worst I have encountered.
A good performance shop that knows the S2000 is a must these days!

With good credit, you should get a pre-approved loan from a bank before you buy a car from a dealership or a private seller. The price you need to be wary of is the total sales price, not a monthly payment.

I think, in general, you'd be paying more if buying from a dealer - sales tax, etc.. But some dealers, especially Honda dealers, offer warranty which you will not get if buying from a private party.

Generally I've had bad luck ONLY with Honda dealers.

Honda salesmen never leave me alone and they have such shady practices. And this one ghetto douchebag at Mike Harvey Honda promised me a deal on a brand new S2K only to say he can't give me that price later. Wasted my time and the dealer's time.

me and my dad went to larry hopkins a 5 weeks earlier to buy me an s2k. larry hopkins sales associate ali, passed us to his manager jake johnson and later on to that dude they called "big boss"

they made us stay for 5 hours negotiating plus they said yes to my offer but then they jacked up the months of im going to pay for from 52months to freaking 72 something. pissed i left the dealer with my middle finger up...

pissed, i went to putnam lexus the other day and bought my s2000. the transaction never last 20 minutes. and they agreed on my terms like that. (btw, i was both looking at a Silverstone AP1) 20 minutes after signing papers, guess who called? ali willing to give the car to my offer..

stupid it is. he wasted my time and his.. they probably think they could sell it for more than i can offer.
