S2000s are not required to get a roll bar to go on the track but its recommended.
Check out http://www.tcdesignfab.com/ he does some cool fab work and has some track parts for the S available.

Go to Autocross first. Learn few things about controlling cars. It's also much cheaper to start than start going on the tack events and you get more turns than those tracks. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Cost to rent the track will be much higher with small amount of people unless you can pay the amount to rent the track. Not so reasonable for beginners.
