Default WA Owner Headed to Laguna Seca

Hi everyone.

I'm driving from WA to Laguna Seca next month w/ some buddies to catch a motorcycle race. We plan on driving I-5 through WA & OR, & then heading to 101 & Hwy 1 in northern CA. I'll be in my S2000, but my friends will be riding their sportbikes (crazy, IMHO).

Can anybody recommend some good roads, restaurants, bars/clubs or other places of interest that I wouldn't find in a tourist guide book? I'll be in SF on a Friday night.

Thanks!

You can take HWY 17 (connects at San Jose) from HWY 101 to pacific coast hwy 1, that'll take you from santa cruz down to monterey. takes a little longer but HWY 1 is a blast

You need to eat at Phill's

30 minutes from Laguna Seca, been covered on foodtv many times, great food and off the beaten trail.

Phil's is now on my list, thank you.

Last year I went with 1 friend, in my car, down 101 from mid-Oregon to SF. It was gorgeous, but SUCH A LONG DRIVE! This year the guys want to cut over from I-5 to 101 around Rte 96 or Rte 3. Fine by me, but I don't think they realize they're going to be dying on their bikes. Is Hwy 1 north of SF much better than Hwy 1 south of SF? If not I'll push for the Hwy 17 route.

gpwuster, it looks like you're a big fan!! ... I'm rooting for Hopkins this year. Would've done the same last year, but I knew it was hopeless. ... You won't be at the turn 4 grandstand by any chance, will you?

We are sitting at turn four. A friend of ours has the tickets so I'm not sure which row.

Fun in terms of twisty? North of SF is much better than the south part to Monterey.

If you can make it to Milpitas Friday night we have a fairly large meet. I'll be in Monterey on Friday though but you should check it out.

It is hopeless but we still root for him..

Yea, Hopkin is doing pretty good this year... not sure what happen to Nicky. Never really like Hopkin for some reason, he just seems arrogant not personalbe as Nicky.

I'd love to go, but since I'm meeting up with friends in SF who are 100% uninterested by cars, I've got to pass. I guess I'm stuck partying in SF instead.

Aren't you going to Canary Row?
