When do you actually plan on being down in the area? We are having a big meet on July 22nd and of course our Friday meet is one of the largest weekly S2000's meets around with a large presence of other imports (NSX's, M3's, Evo's, 350's). We also usually meet up for dinner before the meet, so feel free to join us.

The Bay Area has some of the best canyon roads around. I'm sure if you wanted a tour of them, something could be worked out.

Wow. Your situation sounds strikingly similar to mine.
It's always okay to take some time off. It's better to face the situation with a thought out mind set, rather than tackle it with the current mood. Your road trip sounds like fun, I say go for it. However, don't close the door on him. From his post, it seems like he still cares about you.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll be welcome in the Bay. A lot of cool people at the meets. Come out and enjoy!

so my "?" is, what would you do? what makes it worth it? do i let go of my ideals, part of who i've built myself up to be, and bear the burdens? Or do i maintain independence and move on with my life?
If you two are married, then it's definitly worth salvaging and making this work out between the both of you. You both saw something in each other to commit a lifetime together and both of you are just not seeing that right now.
If your not married then move on with your life and if you two we're meant to be together, you will eventually meet each other again.
Ok, enough philosphising and hope you have great drive. That gives me a thought of doing the same thing for my own reasons.

There's a difference when two people actually commit to each other and when only one person commits and the other commits but with a clause that if something comes along better then i'm outta here.
When two people commit to each other then they are both going into it with eyes wide open and hearts commited to each other with out any clauses. I think that what his dad was telling you is half way correct about forgiving and being patient but it really depends on what he or she is searching for in their lives. Is he/she looking for a purpose in their life or something in that line or is he/she looking for someone to complete them or make them happy? If it's the second part of that sentence then let it go and find your purpose and when you find it, LOVE will be there for you.
Just remember that LOVE is not:
It does not envy
it does not boast
it is not proud
it is not rude
it is not self-seeking
it is not easily angered
it keeps no record or wrongs
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
And remember that LOVE is:
it is always Patient
it is always Kind
it always protects
it always trusts
it always hopes
and it will always perseveres and never fail.
