Visiting the Bay area, need Help
I am from the Mid Atlantic Region Maryland Iam flying into Oakland Int. Airport on 8/6 and staying in Berkley, Doubletree. We have a San Franciso tour on Saturday (4-5 Hrs) I figure this will give us the quick look at the City. We will be staying through Sunday. Monday going to the Sonoma Valley Area thru Wednesday, no stay information yet. Thrusday, to Monteray: Going to the Historic Races on Saturday, returning to Oakland for a Sunday departure.
I thought some of my S2K Brothers/Sisters might have some suggestions for cool places to see. In Berkley In San Fran my wife wants to go to China town for dinner.
Any idea would be greatly appreciated:

Sounds like you're already covering a lot of the region... You're seeing SF, check! You're seeing the wine country, check! And you're seeing the Central Coast area around Monterey, check! What kind of interests do you have, do you like outdoors or urban stuff, etc.?

As cyber_x said, a lot depends on what you are interested in. We have scenery (Golden Gate Bridge), nature (Muir Woods), museums (SFMOMA), city (SF, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose), coast (Monterey, Santa Cruz, Pt. Rayes), wine country (Sonoma) and so on. So it depends on what you want to see.

i'm from NY, but the sites i tend to always end up at in SF are sausalito, fishermans' wharf, lombard street,.. oh, this last visit (last weekend) i took the cable cars for the first time. they go from fisherman's wharf to union square - $3 each way.. kinda fun to ride up and down the hills and hang out from the sides - just like on tv/in the movies. also went to the japanese tea garden in golden gate park. note: it's FREE after 5PM!! (though i don't think it's too expensive if you have to pay..) and you really don't need much time in there.. nice thing to do to go in for free at 5 and then go for dinner. .. um..and i believe SFMOMA is having some "modern pop" exhibit that seems like fun. www.sfmoma.org
have fun!
