Default Vietnam Deportation Pact

http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_805216...e=most_emailed

I don't know if there are a lot of vietnamese people on this board but this is BAD NEWS for a lot of vietnamese people.

Basically, if you are vietnamese and committed a crime you were eligible for deportation. But U.S. laws did not permit them to be deported due to Vietnam being a communist country and those deported could be harmed/killed.

I know many will argue, due the crime face the time..blah blah but this could also affect those, one time criminals, who did a petty crime when they were young. We all make mistakes...people who can be eligible for deportation could have been released from jail 10 years ago and can still be deported. People who have family, kids, wife, husband, etc...can be eligible.

If any of you have any knowledge or law expertise on this matter, please share, I have family who are affected by this pact.

Thanks.

its not just for Viatnamese

any legal alien can get deported for too many misdemeanors or a felony.
heck...multiple DUIs can even get you kicked out of this country

it depends I guess.
if you are deported b/c you ran a red light it would be wrong.
but you live a life of crime, shaking down businesses for protection money, robbery, etc, I say "cut mat"

On one hand I can agree that that's both sad and scary..

But on the other, I agree with the "do the time" idea...

If its for a legit reason like attempted murder, or robbery/grand theft auto, I think they have the right to do it. But the idea itself is sort of depressing and the fact that we have resorted to this is depressing. *sigh*
