Avi There is a place in San Ramon called Dynolabs. Ray is cool. There are several places in the South Bay but I am not familiar with them. Somebody will likely chime in with more info.

Did you get your wiring situated? is the cel out yet?

Talk to ya later

I just want to know if without anything else you could set the system to produce more power. My dyno showed 270.3 whp and 166 torque.

Looks like it definately needs tuning. A supercharged S should be no higher than 12.5-13.0 to be safe. 13 is borderline at 6,000 rpm. Looks like the air/fuel curve could be a little straighter/smoother.

I have not tuned mine yet so I cannot advise you where to have it tuned at.

What was your baseline dyno hp and a/f curve like?

Honestly, I was not too bothered by my dyno results after the S/C install (I went from a base of 180whp to 270whp). This was with a fan blowing on front of car in 95F garage on 91 pump gas. My A/F peaked at 13.0 at around 1500.

You can get all kinds of gains if you dyno on a cooler day, don't let heat soak become an issue, on a different brand of dyno etc. etc. The practical value is the % change on your car pre- and post-S/C.

That said, I would still be interested in whatever advantage (power or reliability) a tune would have, as long as I don't have to run race gas.

edit: Interesting read.

Cliffs notes:
"Basically, what horsepower would you like? I can give you anything from 330 to 420 with the same car,"
dyno printouts become merely a reflection of what a particular car does on a particular dyno under a particular set of conditions

Great article on dyno variabilities in the current Sport Compact Car. The article is mostly for AWD setups, but Dyno Dynamics (which is what Comptech uses) consistently showed lower numbers (by as much as 15%) than some other brands.

I guess some dynos are based on Shetland ponies while others on Clydesdales.

They make a very good point that a given dyno is useful mostly for following the results of changes you make to a car. That said, based on Comptech's dyno, your peak hp gains are somewhere in the 60% range as are mine.
