Default traffic violation help please.

Well, monday 5/3 i pick up my second s2000 from oregon and drive it back. I got a ticket going 86 in 65mph. and no insurance at around 10pm in california. i was just wondering what the fee would be like ? anyway to fight off the uninsured ?

Another question is that this car is under my brother name, he is a resident in Oregon so the car has oregon plate, i am planning to keep it that way. Is there any thing i need to worry about ? or to take care of to legally driving the s2k here without any hassle from cops ?

thnx in advance for any tips.

Do you have a general insurance policy?

For example, my gieco policy covers me on ANY vehicle I drive. There is a limit on how long I can drive a newly purchased vehicle before it's on my policy (I want to say 36 hours).

So unless you have NO insurance, the fact is you were insured.

Like Rob said MOST ins policy will cover you for a short time if you buy a new car. The problem is that you want to leave it in someone else's name, so I bet your ins would not cover it.

In California if the car is going to stay in the state for more that 30 days it must be registered. I had friends parents that got away with this for 4 years, until the new teenage driver got pulled over several times and they noticed the car had been in the state longer than 30 days, and from what I remember it was a good size fine (this was back in 95).

depends on what section you were cited under. most likely around 325 for the speeding cite. the no insurance cite is going to be based on which section he cited u under and if it is correctable or not (marked on the ticket).

out of state plates you can probably get by but a ticket for that is around 165 with possibility of it being "fixable"

What is a correctable ticket ?is that mean if i could buy insurance today and show proof later it will be fine ? The officer cited me under correctable.

Generally if you get insurance after the fact, the judge will assess a small fine and leave it at that. They are happy to get people insured.

were driving without insurance at all?

In California if you are involved in an accident (your fault or not) and you are unable to provide proof of insurance the DMV will suspend your license for a while (think its a year or two).
