Trackmasters AutoX Skills Event
Anyone else interested in attending? Sounds like it should be good for noobs like me.
http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/h...eon_autox.html
Here's a little more info from the email that isn't on the web page:
OK, this is a go!
Just a little over one month away.
Come out to Sears and get ridiculous seat time!
We'll set up an autocross course in the racing paddock.
We're going to run this as more of an open test day than a school.
There will be instruction available and ride alongs are encouraged!
Each driver will have a chance to walk the course in the morning, run each individual exercise area and then we will connect them together to make the big course after lunch.
Each driver will then have 2 hours of runs on the full course.
The event will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The website link with description and payment info on the TMR website is up:
http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/h...eon_autox.html
$75
Continental breakfast, coffee and water is included.
The Raceway Cafe will be open for lunch.
All participants will be able to drive their own car on the big track during the lunch time parade laps.
You will also be able to to ride along with the drivers running the road course as space permits.
Each driver will need their own SA2000 or better helmet.
This will sell out fast.
Open to 60 entries only.
Perfect opportunity to test suspension and tire settings or just get very familiar with your car.
Come drive- 'flat out'!!

There is a member over on baautox.com that went to one of those events. From the look of it, its a very tight course that would be hard to get out of first gear on. They also have an gross amount of cones that make it more of a one lane road vs an autox where you can try out different lines. If your trying to work on car control and have no idea what driving at the limit is then it would probably be a decent event, but for the seasoned autoxer its probably not recomended because you wont learn much.

After reading your post, I did a search on baautox.com to see if I could find more details. I found a thread that had some links to a few youtube vids of a runs from an October event:

I see what you mean... super narrow!
Looks like people did give feedback about that and the organizer said he'd like to run a wider course, but I don't know if that means they will. Also no timing lights, so that's kind of a bummer.
I do have practically zero AutoX experience so maybe I could learn something. I dunno.

I was ready to sign up until I watched those videos...That is a really tight course. A couple of long sweepers where you could hit 3rd gear would be a huge improvement...
