Theater. It's our fourth annual FREE performance at the Herbst Theatre,

the word or come to the show.

The award-winning company of San Francisco's Youth for Asian Theater
brings you its fourth annual summer production disORIENT, an evening of
short plays and monologues from San Francisco's hottest teen
playwrights, performed by YFAT's award-winning company of young actors,
who nurture the plays from script to stage.
The up-and-coming playwrights-all 19 years and younger-have had their
works performed in over two dozen productions in cities such as Boston,
New York, New Haven, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Santa Cruz.
Playwrights include Morgan Ho, Brianna Lee, Diann Leo, Pooja Patel,
Benjamin Piiru, Megan Shum, and 2004 Blank Theatre Young Playwrights
Festival winner Lauren D. Yee
The 2004 YFAT company includes Riley H. Chan, Timothy S. Cheng, Brendan
Eng, Alisa Farenzena, Melissa He, Morgan Ho, Florence Kwo, Brianna Lee,

Executive director Lauren D. Yee established YFAT in 2001 at the age of
15 years old. Since then, YFAT continues to be an independent
student-run theater company that promotes pride in Asian heritage
through theater. Its company members range in age from 12 to 19 years
old and coordinate YFAT's vast summer production from start to finish,
for the sole purpose of making live theater accessible to the community.
Since its inception, YFAT has involved nearly four dozen youth in
theater and entertained and educated over 1,000 audience members. YFAT
molds urban youth into strong leaders and has seen its alumni go on to
attend schools such as Yale University, Wellesley College, UC Berkeley,
and UCLA.
